Indeed, one of the ways to use Favormark.com is to ensure your privacy by storing some of the sensitive data anonymously on a Favormark page, rather than on your home or work computer. (Note that your use of Favormark.com indicates your acceptance of the customer agreement.)
We do not ask any questions. You do not have to provide any personally identifiable information in order to use Favormark pages. Only the page name and password are needed to create a new page. If you send e-mail from your page, you may want to provide a valid e-mail address for return e-mail. However, if you prefer to use your Favormark address book with your e-mail software, even a return e-mail address is not needed.
If you provide a return e-mail address, it will be protected by your password. We will not sell, rent, or disclose it to any third party other than in response to a court order, a subpoena, or a law enforcement agency's request. While we do not plan sending you any regular advertising or newsletter type mailings, we do not completely exclude such possibility in the future.
You can store information about other people. For example, you might store a person's name, e-mail address, telephone number, or any other information. Whenever you put any information about anyone on your page, please make sure it is stored in a protected folder, unless the person has explicitly asked you to publicize it.
Favormark simply stores that information for you; we will not use the information from your address book in any way; we will not sell, rent, or disclose it to any third party other than in response to a court order, a subpoena, or a law enforcement agency's request.
We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, and maintain data security. However, you are responsible for making sure that any personal information on your page is put in password-protected folders. Please note that the page title and the name of the top-level folder cannot be protected by password. At this time, Favormark does not use encryption to protect data transmissions.
Although we take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of information, we cannot assure you that personally identifiable information stored on your page will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy. No computer system can give absolute security guarantees. Favormark declines any responsibility for inadvertent unauthorized disclosure of any information stored on its pages, and, by using the site, you agree not to hold Favormark.com responsible in an way whatsoever should such disclosure occur.
We strongly discourage you from storing financial or identification data on your page (or on any Web site if you can help it). Credit card, social security, or driver license numbers should be kept close to the chest. Do not put on the Web any of your company or government secrets either.
Whenever you open a page on a Web site, that site usually has access to certain technical, non-personally identifiable information such as the type of browser you are using (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer), the type of operating system you are using, (e.g., Windows or Unix), and the Internet Protocol address that your Internet service provider has assigned to you. Also, most sites put small markings on your computer, called cookies. Cookies do not collect any information from your computer. They exist to inform a Web page whether that particular computer has accessed that particular page before.
As the vast majority of sites, Favormark.com also receives such technical information and uses cookies to spare you from having to type the password if you've done it recently. There is no security or privacy benefits of disabling cookies on your browser. Whether you allow cookies or not, your browser keeps history of where you've been on the Internet.
